Majority of US Workers Feel Positive About AI, Seeing It as a Career Ally Rather Than a Threat, According to New Study

A new nationwide survey finds that most American workers are embracing AI in the workplace, viewing it as a tool for growth rather than a threat to their jobs.

The 2025 AI at Work survey, conducted by Centiment on behalf of data-driven HR platform The Predictive Index (PI), polled 1,000 professionals across the United States to gauge attitudes toward AI adoption, trust and leadership communication.

According to the survey, 81% of employees feel positive about AI’s role in their careers, seeing it as a way to boost effectiveness, improve company culture and create new paths for advancement. The study also shows that employees now trust peers and HR more than executives or outside experts to explain AI’s impact.

Says Matt Poepsel, vice president at PI,

“Too many employees aren’t hearing enough from executives about AI, so they’re turning to peers and HR to fill in the blanks. What’s underlying all of this is trust, a gap that has less to do with the technology itself and more to do with a tight job market, economic uncertainty, and a strained employer-employee relationship that’s been building for years.”

While 71% say they feel safe discussing AI at work, nearly half say their input does not influence how companies implement the technology.

PI’s data also highlights training and development as the new workplace currency, with 68% of employees saying they want more AI training during adoption, ranking it above job security guarantees and promotions. The report suggests that the workforce is eager to upskill and participate in change rather than resist it.

Poepsel notes that AI adoption is a people challenge at its core.

“Leaders who slow down, listen and understand their people’s behavioral drives will adapt their rollout more effectively. When you know how someone processes change, you can coach them through it. That’s when adoption becomes sustainable.”
