The White House has assembled a new council of top technology leaders to advise the president on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

President Donald Trump announced the first members of his President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, a group tasked with strengthening US leadership in science and innovation.

The council will be co-chaired by David Sacks and Michael Kratsios and includes some of the most influential figures in technology and business.

The initial roster features executives and founders from across the AI, semiconductor and software industries, including Mark Zuckerberg, Jensen Huang, Larry Ellison, Sergey Brin, Lisa Su and Marc Andreessen.

Other members include Safra Catz, Michael Dell, Fred Ehrsam, David Friedberg, John Martinis, Jacob DeWitte and Bob Mumgaard.

The council is expected to focus on how emerging technologies are reshaping the workforce and the broader economy.

Under the directive, the council will provide recommendations on how the United States can maintain its competitive edge while ensuring that Americans benefit from technological advances.

The White House said the group will address both the opportunities and risks tied to AI and other advanced technologies as the country enters what it called a “Golden Age of Innovation.”

The advisory body can include up to 24 members, with additional appointments expected in the coming weeks, along with details about its first meeting.

Presidential science advisory councils have been a fixture in US policy since 1933, when Franklin D. Roosevelt created the first formal body to guide national strategy on science and technology.
