Jensen Huang Says World Missing Real AI Story, Paints Clear Picture of Tech Revolution Happening Behind the Scenes

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says most people have only seen a tiny sliver of the AI revolution, warning that the public conversation around chatbots and capital expenditure (CapEx) is distracting from a massive transformation happening behind the scenes.

In a new interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer, Huang says the world is just seeing a mere fraction of what AI can do now, leading many to question whether the trillions of dollars of projected CapEx on the tech cycle are worth it.

First, the Nvidia CEO says that AI is already changing the way the world processes data.

“Most people only see the tip of the iceberg, and they see a partial part of the picture, as you know. I think what is going on at the foundation is that we are going through a platform shift from classical general-purpose computing running on CPUs to a new way of doing computing, accelerated computing running on GPUs.

That old way of doing it is going to continue to exist, of course, but the world is shifting to this new way of doing computing. The cash flow of the world’s hyperscalers is at the core really about supporting this platform shift, with or without agentic AI, with or without chatbots. The world’s hyperscalers would have made this platform shift anyhow because this is a much more efficient way of doing computing.”

Huang broadens the lens to explain what everyday Americans are missing. While most conversations center on chatbots, he says AI is already transforming the real economy where goods are built, shipped, designed and deployed.

“The second thing to realize is that AI is not just chatbots. Chatbots are incredible; cognitive AI is very important, but AI covers the entire world of physical AI, industrial AI, robotics, sciences, digital biology. AI is going to transform every single industry…

These industrial applications, these industrial tools where accelerated computing and AI are now in the process of revolutionizing, are foundational to our industries. It is not optional for us. It is mission-critical to us.”

Huang says AI is now on the cusp of flooding into the mainstream.

“And now for the first time, we are at the tipping point of that, and we are going to revolutionize the industrial software industry with it.”
