Elon Musk Says ‘No Need To Save Money,’ Predicts Universal High Income in Age of AI and Robotics

Elon Musk believes that AI and robotics will ultimately eliminate poverty and make money irrelevant, as machines take over the production of goods and services.

In a new post on X, the richest man on the planet believes that in the future, everyone will be wealthy, and saving money will make no sense.

“There will be no poverty in the future, and so no need to save money. There will be universal high income.”

Replying to an X post by Melanie D’Arrigo, who hints that Musk could use his $600 billion fortune to fund a myriad of humanitarian efforts – from ending hunger to a universal basic income – the Tesla and SpaceX CEO says his companies’ technologies will ultimately address those demands.

“Ironically, Optimus, FSD (full self-driving) and AI will provide all the things this moocher demands.”

The tech titan also says money won’t likely matter once humans get to launch high-speed payloads from the Moon. He makes the statement following reports that his wealth is now worth more than the combined fortunes of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and legendary investor Warren Buffett.

A mass driver is an electromagnetic accelerator, like a railgun, that propels payloads without rockets. On a lunar base, it could hurl resources like metals for Earth delivery or construction in space.

Last week, Musk said that establishing a lunar base is critical for the advancement of human civilization. He noted that humans could construct solar-powered AI satellites on the Moon and use an electromagnetic accelerator to escape lunar velocity without the need for rockets.
