Anthropic Head of Growth Says ‘Lion’s Share’ of $19,000,000,000 Revenue Explosion Came From One Core Driver

Anthropic’s head of growth says the AI giant’s blistering pace of revenue expansion is largely rooted in a single internal advantage.

In a new interview on Lenny’s Podcast, Amol Avasare says Anthropic is not a typical growth-led organization, but one fundamentally driven by its technical foundation.

“I’d say it’s very much a company-wide effort. Yes, we are the growth team. We have done great. I think we’ve driven a lot of impact. But honestly, we can’t claim too much credit for the success of the company.

We, as Anthropic, are really a model company and an intelligence company first and foremost. And so the lion’s share of what has driven our success is our research team. We have the best research team in the world. We have great teams on inference and compute. And then there are many other teams like Claude Code, Go-to-Market, etc., who I think deserve much more credit than us.”

He also outlines the pace of expansion, describing a multi-year sequence of rapid scaling that has continued despite expectations of slowing growth.

“I think just zooming out, going to some of what you said earlier, that the growth trajectory has just been insane. That 10x year-on-year revenue growth trend has been there since the beginning. I think 2023 was zero to $100 million. 2024 was $100 to $1 billion. Last year was $1 billion to roughly $10 billion…

And then you get to the end of 2025, and it’s like, ‘OK, law of large numbers. There’s going to be a pretty big slowdown here based on your baseline rate of $10 billion. How are you going to keep growing at this rate?’

It just has not slowed down.”

According to Avasare, the public numbers published a couple of months ago are already way behind what Anthropic is generating in real time.

“And you know, those numbers are public. The $19 billion number you quoted is from the end of February, so that is also out of date. And it’s absolutely insane.”

In February, Anthropic closed a $30 billion funding round that saw its valuation ascend to $380 billion. The Claude creator is expected to make its stock market debut this year.
