A leading digital intelligence platform says Japan is second to none in AI adoption, as monthly visits to generative artificial intelligence tools more than doubled last year.

In a new post on X, Similarweb says gen AI tools’ average monthly website visits from users in Japan exploded by 126.8% from 2024 to 2025.

France comes in at number two, with the average monthly website visits surging 106.5% over the same time frame. South Korea ranks third with 85.6% growth, and Brazil lands at number four, having witnessed a 78.7% increase in average monthly website visits.

Germany and the US are in the middle of the pack, showing 71.6% and 64.5% growth, respectively.

Meanwhile, average monthly website visits to generative AI tools from UK users grew 62.9% last year. India sits at the bottom of the list, with a 34.5% increase.

Similarweb also finds that users across the globe are increasingly visiting both Gemini and ChatGPT. The data intelligence platform says that across 2025, roughly 45% to 50% of Gemini users also used ChatGPT, while 9% to 23% of ChatGPT users also used Gemini.

“The audience overlap between ChatGPT and Gemini throughout 2025 showed a growing trend of ChatGPT users also visiting Gemini, especially after the release of Nano Banana at the end of August.”

The data suggests that users who choose Gemini still heavily rely on ChatGPT. On the other hand, users who choose ChatGPT increasingly test Gemini, indicating growing curiosity or incremental usefulness from Google’s chatbot.
