A new global study from The Adecco Group shows employees are using AI to expand their capabilities rather than fade into irrelevance.
The survey covered 37,500 employees across 21 industries and 31 countries, including countries in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and the Asia-Pacific.
Adecco finds that most respondents see AI as a catalyst for new skills and higher-value work, not a destroyer of jobs. While some fear automation, the numbers show optimism and adaptation have taken the lead, as nearly 8 in 10 employees say AI has stretched their capabilities.
“Workers seem to be largely embracing the changes caused by AI, with 77% saying that AI has allowed them to perform tasks they couldn’t do before they had access to the technology. This is positive, because nearly three-quarters say that AI has already changed – or they expect it to change – the activities they do and the skills they require for their role.”

Meanwhile, 76% believe that AI is creating more jobs rather than destroying them. Only 23% have witnessed or expect AI job displacement.
The study also finds that AI is making employees more efficient, allowing them to save time on their tasks. Employees now estimate they save about two hours per day using AI, double last year’s average. Yet Adecco cautions that this time gain often fails to translate directly into measurable productivity for employers, as employees mostly spend the freed-up time on more strategic thinking, quality assurance and training/upskilling.

Says Adecco Group CEO Denis Machuel,
“In 2025, the workforce is more confident, ambitious and ready for AI. Our research shows that three in four employees view AI as an opportunity, not a threat. However, without a sensitive, human-first approach, there is a risk that the workforce is destabilized before it reaps the benefits AI can bring.”
