Companies Are Rolling Out AI, But Nearly Half of US Workers Remain Non-Users, According to New Gallup Poll

A new Gallup survey finds that companies across the United States are adopting artificial intelligence, but AI use among employees remains uneven.

The latest data from the management consulting firm shows that employees who already use AI at work increased their usage slightly in Q4 of 2025, continuing a gradual climb that began in 2023.

Daily AI use among US workers rose from 10% to 12% in Q4, while frequent use, defined as at least a few times per week, increased three percentage points to 26%. Meanwhile, total AI users, those using the tech daily, a few times a week, a few times a month or a few times a year, climbed to 46%.

Despite the creeping AI adoption among employees, Gallup says 49% of US employees still report they “never” use AI in their roles, underscoring how far the technology has yet to penetrate everyday work.

Looking at the employer side, adoption is moving ahead but remains fragmented.

In the fourth quarter, 38% of employees say their organization has integrated AI tools to improve productivity, efficiency and quality. Another 41% say their employer has not implemented AI technology, while 21% say they did not know whether AI had been rolled out at their workplace.

The results point to a widening gap between companies adopting AI and a workforce that remains largely split between regular users and complete non-users. According to Gallup, the gap stems from employees believing that AI can’t be used in their line of work.

“Gallup research shows that lack of utility is the most common barrier to individual AI use, suggesting that clear AI use cases may be more apparent for leaders than employees in other roles.”
