Google in Talks With Anthropic for New Compute Deal Worth Tens of Billions of Dollars: Report

Google is in early discussions with Anthropic about a potential multibillion-dollar deal to support the Claude creator.

According to people familiar with the matter, the proposed deal could be valued in the high tens of billions of dollars, underscoring the deepening dependency between AI developers and the tech giants that power their models, reports Bloomberg.

Sources say the deal remains under discussion and would see Google supplying cloud computing power to Anthropic. For now, details of the deal remain private.

Both Google and Anthropic declined to issue comments on the matter.

The arrangement would expand Google’s existing role as both an investor and cloud provider to Anthropic. Google initially invested roughly $3 billion in Anthropic, committing $2 billion in 2023 and following up with another $1 billion earlier this year. Meanwhile, Amazon has committed to invest $8 billion in the Claude creator.

Last week, Anthropic said it expects its annualized revenue to reach $9 billion by the end of 2025 and surge as high as $26 billion in 2026, driven by the accelerating adoption of its enterprise products.

In Q3 of 2025, the AI startup received $13 billion in venture capital investment, well ahead of Elon Musk’s xAI ($5.3 billion) and Mistral AI ($2 billion).

Anthropic boasts 300,000 enterprise customers, accounting for 80% of Anthropic’s sales. Anthropic’s code-generation tool Claude Code has already reached a $1 billion annualized run rate since launching earlier this year. The company also released a cheaper version of its base model, Haiku 4.5, priced at about one-third the cost of its mid-tier model, Sonnet 4.
